In 2026, the Community-Engaged Alliance funded a collaboration between Elkhart County Environmental Council, Hoosier Environmental Council, the School of Health Sciences at Purdue University, and the Department of Social Sciences at Purdue Fort Wayne. The study is entitled Enhancing Student Learning by Building Cultural Capacity and Increasing Environmental Health Literacy in Elkhart, IN (IRB-2026-0198). The Community-Engaged Alliance is an Indiana-focused organization that directly benefits the local community. Focused on “Empowering Minds, Transforming Communities,” the Community-Engaged Alliance supports programs that strengthen relationships between Indiana higher education institutions and communities through professional development and student leadership development.
