Mission Statement

Elkhart County Environmental Council is focused on empowering residents to address public health contamination concerns. We champion human dignity and promote our common responsibility to develop collaborative solutions that make a lasting difference to improve community wellbeing.

Vision

We envision an Elkhart County where all residents participate in making transparent, informed, and empowered community development decisions to improve the wellbeing of our community.

Our Core Goals

To Inform the Community

We provide information about resources to the community. We update residents through our newsletter. We convene community meetings to address public concerns. We canvas neighborhoods impacted by migrating pollution plumes.

To Empower Elkhart Residents

We talk to government agencies on behalf of our residents’ concerns. We give voice to those whose voices would otherwise go unheard. We encourage people to advocate for their community. We are better together.

To Improve the Community Together

We stand with residents as they explore difficult public health questions in Elkhart. Obtaining informed consent can be a challenging process that may involve public advocacy for residents who are exposed to contamination.
